The Old Man and the Sea (2016)

Ernest Hemingway
THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA

The goal: to present the attitude to the text as clear as possible.
The topic of loneliness. The old man Santiago is alone. Hemingway manages to make even the text sound lonely. It’s simple and dispassionate. Hence two reading strategies. Strategy one: leave the pages stitched, read the lonely surface of the text. Strategy two: break the page open. There're children's drawings inside, possibly made by the boy that gave Santiago hopes through the memories. Red line. It appears on the title and disappears in the end of the book. It can be viewed as both a fishing line and the line of the old man's life. There's something information about Hemingway in the end of the book. His love for Cuba, for the sea and for fishing.
